Hey, I’m Junaid. I built Contextli because I was tired of pretending dictation tools were dictation tools.
As a founder, I’ve got a thousand things in my head at any given moment. Marketing ideas. Product specs. Feature requests. Bug logs. Customer follow-ups. Half-written emails sitting in drafts. And like most founders, I spend a lot of my day replying to people. So I tried every dictation tool out there, thinking I could speak my way through my inbox.
But here’s what I found. Every tool on the market is a transcription tool dressed up as a dictation tool. You have to literally say the entire email out loud, word for word. “Hi John, comma, hope you’re doing well, comma, just wanted to follow up on the proposal from last Tuesday, period.” That isn’t dictation. That’s typing with your mouth.
So I built Contextli to do what dictation should actually do. You tell it what you want the email to say. Not the email itself, just the idea. “Let John know I got his proposal, I have a few questions about the pricing on slide four, can we hop on a call Thursday afternoon.” Hit the hotkey, speak, and the AI writes the actual email. Properly addressed, properly closed, in your voice.
Then there’s the other half of my brain. Ideas that hit at the worst possible times. In the shower. On a walk. Half-asleep at 2am. Every founder I’ve talked to has this exact problem. The moment of inspiration almost never happens at your desk. So we built the mobile app for exactly that. Open it, pick the context (Product Ideas, Marketing Hooks, Customer Feedback, whatever you’ve set up), speak your thought, done. It’s there forever.
The part I’m most excited about: our MCP interface lets you connect Contextli to Claude or ChatGPT and pull all those captured thoughts back out. End of the day, end of the week, end of the month, you can ask Claude to organise your product ideas into a backlog, group your customer feedback by theme, or summarise your gym log. Your voice notes become a queryable knowledge base.
